All Kerala people are familiar with the name Dr Sukumar Azhikode. He is a noted critic, orator & writer in Malayalam literature. So far he had made several contributions to the Malayalam literature. He took his Ph.D in Malayalam language & worked as a teacher in schools like Chirackal Rajas High School, Mangalore St Aloysius College, Kozhikode Devagiri College & later worked as the principal of Moottakunnam SNM Training College & a professor as well as pro-vice chancellor of Calicut university.

He retired from his profession in the year Tatvamasi, the most famous work of Dr Sukumar Azhikode had won several awards including the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award & the Indian Sahitya Academy Awards respectively. From , Dr Sukumar Azhikode served as the chairman of National book trust.
